United Way’s Open Your “Heart” to a Senior Program

Hundreds of seniors in Western Pennsylvania could use a helping hand, from grocery shopping, a ride to the doctor’s, snow shoveling, yard work, help with correspondence, or even just getting a friendly phone call now and then.  The United Way’s Open Your “Heart” to a Senior Program seeks to match volunteers with seniors in need in Allegheny and Westmoreland County.  The program offers a range of volunteer opportunities with commitments of one time to once a week. Potential volunteers can attend an informational session or contact the program staff at 412.307.0071 for more details.  For a complete list of volunteer opportunities and informational/orientation sessions, go to openyourhearttoasenior.org.

This initiative is dedicated to helping seniors live safely and independently in their homes. If you know a senior who could the services of this program, please pass along the program’s contact information or ask them to dial 2-1-1.
