Official Launch and Kick-off Celebration for Solarize F-HP-M
When: Thursday, June 25th, 7:00-8:30 pm
Where: The Union Project, 801 N Negley Ave.
Free registration here: www.solarizeallegheny.org/f-hp-m (scroll to Events)
Afterwards, we’ll walk over to Park Place Pub, 5719 Bryant St. for some solar socializing.
A brief presentation about the benefits of solar and explanation about how you can go solar through the Solarize Allegheny campaign will be offered, along with refreshments. The pre-qualified solar installers will be on hand to tell you if your home is a good candidate for solar. In addition, Dollar Bank representatives will be available to explain financing options. If you bring a copy of your electric bill, you can sign up for a solar quote at the event.
Solarize F-HP-M is a local campaign under the Solarize Allegheny umbrella – a project funded by the Heinz Endowments and managed by non-profit organization SmartPower – to double the amount of solar energy throughout Allegheny County over two years. F-HP-M is one of three communities that will host the campaign over the next 16 weeks. In the first phase of the projects this spring, four other communities participated and Point Breeze is now the leading solar neighborhood in the City of Pittsburgh with 16 solar installations. Through Solarize F-HP-M residents and businesses will have the opportunity to learn more about the benefits of solar energy through a robust on-the-ground outreach campaign that connects you directly to local, pre-screened, qualified solar installers who will offer competitive bids, guidance and assistance to go solar – making the process simple and affordable.
The price of solar has dropped dramatically over the past several years, so that solar is now as affordable as your monthly electric bill. There’s even a 0% interest loan program through the Pittsburgh Urban Redevelopment Authority for people with qualifying incomes that helps people to go solar with no upfront costs and saves them money every month on utility bills.

It’s hard to believe that it’s almost February and 2015! While it might be cold and snowy outside, it’s cozy at the monthly MACC meetings (first Wednesday of the month, 7pm, VFW). Join us as we discuss the issues that impact Morningside, meet your neighbors, and learn more about how you can become more involved.
Plus, don’t forget to renew your MACC membership, for more details check out the January MACC Member Letter 0115. These membership dues help us keep Morningside beautiful, as well as support free and low cost events for residents and their families.
Want to know how you can get more involved NOW–check out our volunteer opportunities!

On behalf of the Morningside Mile Committee, we would like to thank you for your participation, donation, and support for the runners for the 4th Annual Morningside Mile Honoring Those Who Serve! This year we had just under 200 participants register for the one mile race and many others attend the Morningside Mile MACC n’ Cheese competition and Comedy Night fundraisers. Together, we raised over $6,000 for the Allegheny Gold Star Mothers and the Morningside Area Community Council in the name of our 2014 honoree – Morningside resident and Gold Star Mother, Mrs. Frances Colletto 1914-2013.
We will be presenting a check to the Allegheny Gold Star Mothers on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 7:00PM at the Morningside VFW (1820 Morningside Ave).
We’d very much appreciate it if you would take a few minutes to provide us with feedback on your experience and recommendation for next year. We are looking for feedback from those who participated in the race and those who did not, since the race impacts all Morningside residents. Click here for the short survey:
Thank you again for your support of the 2014 Morningside Mile and we appreciate your help planning for an even more successful 2015 race!
