On Friday, April 2, 2010 at 10:00AM at Zone 5 Police Station, the PBP will hold its first Memorial Service to Uplift, Honor and Celebrate the Life and Spirit of Officers Kelly, Sciullo and Mayhle. The service is open to the public. Additional events....
Easter Sunday, April 4th, 2010 at 10:30AM, a mass will be held at St. Joseph Church located at 4712 Liberty Avenue in Bloomfield. Following the mass there will be a dedication ceremony for the permanent memorial honoring the Fallen Heroes.
Easter Sunday, April 4th, 2010 the Stanton Heights Neighborhood Association will hold a Luminaria Lighting at 6:45 - 9:00PM. Families are welcome to join the community in creating a visual tribute to the Fallen Officers as Stanton Avenue is lined with luminaria. Luminaria stations will be set up at two locations: Sunnyside Elementary School located on Stanton Avenue and at the intersection of Woodbine and Stanton Avenue near the bus shelter. All materials for the luminaria will be provided.
The Stanton Heights Memorial Service will be held on April 17th, 2010 at 11:00AM -12:30PM at Sunnyside Elementary School Auditorium located on Stanton Avenue. Following the Memorial Service for the Fallen Officers, there will be a field dedication and sign erected in the honor of Officer Eric G. Kelly. This dedication is being lead by Councilman Patrick Dowd. "The Stanton Heights neighborhood - and the entire Pittsburgh region - has fully rallied behind the families of these heroic fallen heroes. These events of remembrance will signify the honor and compassion that our community bestows on Officers Kelly, Sciullo and Mayhle, and their families. Electronics: Empty ink cartridges, old cell phones, old digital cameras, iPods, video systems, (i.e. GameBoy, Nintendo, Atari consoles), PDA’s & lap tops can be dropped off at St. Raphel School or Parish offices for recycling.
Eye Glasses: Don’t throw your old eye-glasses away! The Knights of Columbus can use them for Missionary Distribution. Please bring them to the St. Raphael Parish Office.
